About Lorraine

Hi, I’m Lorraine Shannon, the proud owner of Shannon’s Sitters. With over 18 years of experience in the childcare sector, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting children and families with care that’s safe, nurturing, and built on trust. My journey began at 19 as a modern apprentice in Glasgow’s West End, and since then, I’ve progressed into various managerial roles while continuing to grow both professionally and personally.

I hold SVQ Level 2 and 3 in Early Learning and Childcare, an SCPF Level 9 in Social Services (Children and Young People), and I’m currently studying for a BA in Childhood Practice. Alongside running Shannon’s Sitters, I also work full-time in a local authority early years setting—bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to everything I do.

Shannon’s Sitters was born from my two greatest passions: childcare and events. I saw an opportunity to bring them together by offering families a dependable, relationship-driven service they can trust while juggling life’s responsibilities and celebrating special moments. I believe that strong, positive relationships are the foundation of quality care, and this belief is at the heart of my business.
